a friendly note to myself about alcohol

dammit I am too old to drink, I guess. I hate feeling like crap the next day or making myself sick.

If I'm at a normal function where people are drinking, like out with coworkers or dinner with family, I can have one alcoholic beverage.

If I'm at an unusually fun event, like a big fun party with people hanging out chatting around campfires and I have a ride home, I can have two alcoholic beverages.

There is no reason to ever have three, okay! Three is no fun, and makes me lose track!

I stopped being able to tolerate "dark spirits" (scotch, whiskey, bourbon, brandy, etc) at age 23. Terrible reflux. Stopped being able to tolerate the rest (vodka, tequila, wine) at age 36. I can have a "social cocktail" or a glass of wine at bookclub, but that's about it. I can't say I miss it that much.

Are you familiar with this little poem?

A Day That Will Live in Infamy: the day Lookfar hit the second martini while the roast beef was still in the oven and turned the oven off, leading to many perplexed drunken checkings of the mysteriously raw meat, and dinner served at 9 p.m.

So, yes.

Yeah, I can't imagine having three drinks. It's usually only one; two, maybe once a year. And it's not just the feeling like crap the next day. It just doesn't feel the same anymore.

what an odd angsty memory! what got you to bring that one up?

Sorry, reading it again it maybe wasn't the best one to bring up. I just got stuck on the last bit " not only does marc love me more than anyone, he's the only one I've ever been with who always, truly hears me."

and thinking about how it's turned out so far, you did buy a house with Marc, he is proving to be a great father etc. Finding someone who hears you is so important and so often overlooked.

Anyway, I came across it because I remembered a post about some online community for asking advice about web shops or something and you set it up that people had to give feedback to at least 3(?) other people before they were allowed to post their own query. But I looked through all the archives (just subject headings) and read all the ones that looked promising and the one with no-subject, but I wasn't able to find it.

I also found a post where you asked people what their top 5 most visited websites were and I looked down at the comments and I had actually answered! I barely look at any of those websites anymore.

ha ha, it's okay!

2007 was an interesting year. It is kinda funny how in only a few short months I went from being very concerned about everything to GETTING MARRIED.

I remember thinking it was definitely too fast. Reading back, I strongly agree with myself.

how it all worked out is beyond me entirely. I'm calling it luck of the draw.
