thanksgiving events rundown

Thanksgiving! I took almost no photos. Just lived in the moments. It was everything I ever wanted.

Thursday - Marc made a big turkey dinner. His parents came over. Afterwards they watched the kids and we went out to the new Hunger Games movie. I liked it but I read the books so I knew all the twists, dunno how well done it was if you're not in on all that. We made his parents take home all the leftovers.

Friday - biggest shopping day of the year! We chose not to leave the house. We put up Christmas stuff. We went to whole foods. Then in the evening some friends came over and marc made sushi. I hadn't met them before, friends of marc's, but they were super nice and it was great wine and conversation.

Saturday - My sister, brother-in-law, niece, mom and dad came down from their various parts of Kansas. Marc made a perfect roast with carrots, potatoes and gravy. the kids played together really nicely - especially Josie, who adored her 1-year-old cousin and took really good care of her. Olive had a bit of a hard time with it - she doesn't do "middle child" very well. She did like telling us that baby A is "so little!" which is funny because Olive is short so they basically see eye-to-eye, the only difference between them is baby A doesn't talk much yet, doesn't walk as fast, and Olive's probably got 10 pounds on her. Olive did not like sharing or seeing another toddler playing with her toys AT ALL. I think A had a good time though.

Sunday - Marc made chili for everybody, the kids played a bit and then they went home. We've been totally lounging today and might just go for pizza. The house looks pretty clean. Nobody wants to take a nap... oh well. we tried. The fridge still has leftover chili and roast.

Sounds like a delightful weekend. Your girls are lucky to have a cousin close enough to play with. I never realized until I was an adult the special role that cousins can play. They are friends and family at the same time.

That sounds ideal. Good conversation, wine, food in the fridge... this is what contentment is made of.

Your holiday spanned the whole long weekend. How great is that! Much less stress all around. And Marc's cooking sounds so tasty and delicious.

My husband was a good cook, too, and loved cooking. I can cook but would rather not. Oh, well, I could never see any point in both of us being good at the same thing. FanSee

There's a point at being good at the same thing if it's something you can enjoy doing and talking about together.

Though, of course I see that being good at different things means there are more things that at least one of you is good at.
