pipe cleaners

last weekend when dad was in town I was talking to him and marc about some narrow plastic tubes I had trouble cleaning. basically there was something weird I could see in one of them, near the end, and I hadn't had success cleaning it out. I'd tried soaking it, I'd tried siphoning hot soapy water through it. I was like "I probably need to get something to stick up there like a pipe cleaner, but I haven't made it out to buy any."

You know, pipe cleaners. Right? Like this:

So Dad said he'd go get me some, since he had to go to the grocery store anyway. I figured he wasn't that familiar with pipe cleaners to think they'd be at a grocery store, you'd have to go to Hobby Lobby or Micheal's or something that sells lots of specialty craft supplies, right? I told him our grocery store has a very small craft sections. He just looked at me all confused.

Anyway he went to the store and came back with pipe cleaners. I was stunned, I was like, "These were at the grocery store?" He said, "Of course, they sell tobacco products. I had to educate the poor girl working in that section who had no idea what I was talking about, but they were right there."

Apparently pipe cleaners are for cleaning pipes. Go figure! They're at all kinds of stores I never would have thought of. To get help finding them, Dad had to find people over the age of 40 or so... no one my age has any idea that these are for tobacco. Don't ask me why they're called pipe cleaners... I'd never used them for cleaning anything.

These are the pipe cleaners. They come in one color: white. They claim that they will extend the life of your pipe while keeping it tasting and smelling fresh and clean.
