taxation

I filed state YESTERDAY. Egads, I'm getting worse every year about the procrastination. Luckily (or unluckily, however you put it) I'm getting a ton of money back from federal because I went on the Marry A Poor Person tax savings plan... seriously. We saved, like, a grand. Yay for heterosexual privilege, huh?

Are you/did you get a heapin' tax refund?

Yes, it's so awesome!

I came out at exactly even for both federal and state, because I'm awesome.

Dude, I found out I was withholding too much. Or too little? I changed it, getting paid sucks more now.

I owe the gov $101. They will take it out tomorrow. Then, they will give it back in May. I am not kidding.

my parents claimed me even though they don't support me. people told me to settle down, that their parents were doing the same, but then sharing the extra money they made from doing so, but nuh-uh. if it happens again next year, I'm raising a stink. i have my own health insurance policy! that's like, the ultimate! i think the fact that i'm still finishing my degree (part-time, mind you) is the only thing between my parents and an audit. or maybe i don't understand this stuff at all... *sigh*

I came out paying a bit to the province and getting a nice wad back from the feds, but then the province changed its mind about my 2004 return and hit me up for more money.

Still, more interest-free savings than nasty surprises.

I almost picked the second option, but the thing with me is - even though it's in a stupid interest-free savings account, it's better off there. Because if the $900 came to me at less than $100 a month instead of as $900 all at once, I'd spend the less than $100 a month on... who knows what. Whereas with the $900 all at once, I can buy something bigger and cooler. Or have it for my trip to Scotland.

I'm self-employed so I'm always paying in. Every damn quarter. But no more than needed to avoid penalties.

Heterosexual AND married privilege! It's crap! Crap I tell you. Crap!

But I have a feeling no one would like the tax plan I would implement...
