MindMap

It's supposed to show how tightly-woven certain groups of your friends are. When I looked at it I noticed certain groups just popping right out, so I made an image sort of blotting the borders:

It's interesting. I really wonder what mine would have looked like last year, or a year from now. The key group around me is the spacefem.com forum members, which makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. It looks like my real-life friends are on a tier under that... sort of grouped in the lower left (pink).

I joined livejournal several years ago kinda through the she-net clique and the #beos IRC channel, and those aren't my "key" groups anymore if you believe what this map says. I guess I do. both groups have changed a lot. it makes me wonder what my forum group will look like in three years. There are members who are still really active, who've already been around over a year. I wonder if we'll how long it'll all keep up.

it could be really cool.

where did you get it? a friend of mine has a really elaborate theory along these lines. no way could i explain it all here. he kind of thinks that places in cities will kinda fall into groups like how you highlighted. according to cliques that frequent those places. and people who frequent kind of the same places will find each other in OTHER cities as a result. kind of contributes to the 'small world phenomenon. and total strangers you meet in these same places will have common knowledge of the same places you do, even though you have never met.

did i make no sense? sorry. i'm really interested in where you got that. pretty please?

map your e-mind
I think you can order one on http://ljmindmap.com/ -- so easy to use, no wonder it's #1!

I'm an lj newbie, so my mindmap looks like a midget spider's web-- not quite as exciting as seasoned peeps' intricate latticework. (my freng)The guy who programmed this killed a bazooka-wielding insurgent with his bare hands during Operation Vietnam Freedom, according to a willfull misinterpretation I've made of his lj.

it might be a mutual friends thing... I think most people on there are friends with more of my other friends, but that's just my suspicion.

i'm not sure - season and aliki both are she-netters who got stuck in islands of their own. i guess they're just freaks.

Ah, didn't realize that Season was a She-netter. I just grouped her w/ the rest of us Sexilicious pervs and called it a day. Makes a little more sense when she's part of two groups (but not really near the Sexi group at all- she's drifted!)

*sigh*

Spacefem, could you check spacefem.com's settings. I've been getting bounced e-mails to you (I tried three times on an old e-mail), and I can't access the domain at all from my home connection. I get 403 errors like crazy. Evidentally your domain (or host) is, for some reason, blocking houston.rr.com

Would be nice to access the spacefem content, again.
Many many thanks...

it WAS a really cool forum! it's gone now. it was basically a bunch of people, mostly cool independent women, talking it up about sex. if I could find another one like it i'd be thrilled, but I haven't so far.

if you find another forum like that, would you mind forwarding the link to me, too? I'd love to find something like that. thanks!
