So I was thinking about who in the class to get together with for a study group, and there's this one guy who sits near me. After class we're talking about the quiz and he's like, "So, what are you doing Saturday night?"
I'm thinking, "Finally, someone else wants to get a study group together!" I'm tell him, "Oh, nothing. I mean, STUDYING! Seriously!"
Then he's like, "Studying?" (pause) "Do you want to hang out? Maybe go somewhere?"
dammit he wasn't thinking about a study group after all. I was really dissapointed. I mean, he was asking me out and I was turning him down (definately - not only am I so done with college boys but I have a boyfriend - a tall, employed one at that. poor kid never had a chance.) so now studying was out of the question.
Reason #239B why I wish there were more girls in engineering: starting up study groups is really awkward when you have to start with people of the opposite sex, and risk it being just you and him. Say what you will about gender roles, it doesn't work.
