I keep seeing stuff all over the media about the last season of Friends, yet I haven't talked to a single intelligent person who cares. I'm so sick of hearing about this trite soap opera moving off that I'm getting that Titanic feeling... you know, when you're watching a movie that's going way too long and the only thought in your head is "WILL YOU SINK THE DAMN SHIP ALREADY?" That's what Friends means to me. I haven't watched that show since they fired the monkey, that's how much I care about all the characters.

I am excited about Showtime's premier of "The L Word" tonight. From what I've seen it's going to be a show about real people (as opposed to Friends) with real careers (as opposed to Friends) and lives different from the ones we've been seeing portrayed on television since the invention of the cathode ray tube (again, as opposed to Friends). I kinda want to have a party and invite everyone over to celebrate the premier, but I don't think my normal Wichita friends are as excited as I am about the show considering it's mostly about lesbians, and I'm not sure what kind of food you serve for this kind of thing... I love themes but it's just so easy to cross the line with some people, you know?

Last night I watched Margaret Cho's "Notorious C.H.O." and it was awesome. She just rocks. Gets kinda preachy sometimes but I agree with everything she says so that sort of preaching isn't so bad. There's this part where she talks about how women really don't talk about their period very much at all considering how MUCH it happens... holy crap, thank you. That's just beautiful. See, good things are shown on television sometimes, that's why I can't just turn it off. I read a lot, I rent lots of movies, but when it comes down to it I love TV and really want it to be good, it's such a good idea if we just use it right.

woah... dude... it's the last season of Friends? Ha, see how much I watch "popular" television. To tell you the truth, I'm glad it's the last season; the ten minutes that I've watched of it have been really stupid, and probably one of the biggest waste of ten minutes. What's the point of the show? As far as I can see, there isn't one. When's the end of the season? Oh damn... probably near the summer...

yeah. i really kinda hate friends. blah. i do think some of it is funny, but everyone follows it mindlessly, no thank you.

also... i caught some of cho. was great, but i think she went on a little bit too much about sex. but that's her schtick. i felt kinda uncomfortable when my boyfriend came back in the room, so i changed it.

I stopped watching Friends when it conflicted with Survivor. I saw a supposedly new episode of Friends recently though and it was a clip show. They get $1 million an episode, put on less episodes this season to work less, and they have the nerve to put on a clip show for all that cash because they were overworked?

I watched part of The Notorious C.H.O., and she was just annoying me. I had to shut it off. I do plan on watching the L Word and I hope it lives up to the hype.

You must post a review of the L word. Pity for me I don't have showtime . . .

The L word wasn't too bad, but it was also somewhat like soft porn. I can send you a copy of it in Real Media format if you like?

Thanks, that would be brilliant!

I figured it would be a little soft-porny though.

Try sending it to kemancu@mailbox.sc.edu or I can arrange a time to be on AIM (although file transfer can be weird because we have a firewall). If you have problems with the e-mail then comment back here or use kmpurplepen@hotmail.com.

The file is too big to email. You'd need to FTP download it. I have a friends only post here that explains how to do it.

can you add me to your friend list temporarily so I can see it?

OK, done

Should have been canceled a while back, along with Frasier..

I honestly don't know when I last saw "Friends." I don't get what intrigued folks so much.

I thought it was over years ago. I believe someone corrected me on this some time within the past year or so though.

"People ask me sometimes if I ever go too far, if I ever reaveal too much of myself nad later regret it. I dont think it is possible to get too personal. We all have pain. We all have doubt and sadness and horrible things that have happened that shouldn't have, and when we cover them up and try to pretend that everything is okay, then our stories are forgotten, and our truths become lies."

great quote . . . I love Margaret Cho!

Hey, it's bootcampgirl, under my "other" name.

Anyway, I understand about friends, I guess. In terms of how I don't really care that it's ending. Ever since ninth grade, when I got over my crush on David Schwimmer, I sort of gave up on the show *grins*.

The only thing I ever have time to watch is X-file re-runs late at night. This spring course load has me buckling over already.

Remedying a deficiency
There's this part where she talks about how women really don't talk about their period very much at all considering how MUCH it happens...

A few days ago I asked my coworker if he'd rather be a vampire or a werewolf. He couldn't decide, but when he turned the question on me, I promptly said, "Werewolf. One night a month in a cage wearing a flea collar would be no big deal. After all, periods last an entire week."

On that note - damn, my uterus hurts.
