friday five - books

Totally late on the friday five but I wanted to get to it because the questions are good this week!

Although reading these, so many of my answers just link to previous entries, I'm like oh hell... I'm 35 and my life is all done being written down.

1. What was your favorite book during childhood?
Matilda - Roald Dahl. I read it over and over and over and over.

2. What is your favorite book now?
Contact by Carl Sagan (review & reasons)

3. What is your favorite movie adaptation of a book?
Don't hate me but I really love the latest Great Gatsby with Leonardo DiCaprio at Gatsby, it's the first time I thought Baz Luhrmann's style really lent something to a story.

Then again, of course Lord of the Rings movies are the best.

4. Do you prefer checking out books from the library or buying them?
Oh gosh library of course! I am a strong believer in libraries and book sharing. Other entries related to this topic: my 3-week book policy and 20 reasons why I'm still reading paper books.

5. Have you ever been let down by a book that was highly recommended to you?
I don't know if it was recommended per se, but my least favorite book EVER was The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand and lots of people really like it. In fact I think I picked it up because I saw it on a table at the book store of important gifts for college grads going out into the world, which is kind of like a recommendation. I now think it's the WORST book for a college grad to read going out into the world, unless you want them entering the workforce totally full of themselves and convinced they don't have to listen to anyone and we should all immediately praise their every genius word because, you know, 22 years old.
