wardrobe organization

This may not be my most exciting livejournal entry, so I apologize, I'm happy for those of you who are traveling the world or adopting new pets or setting land speed records or whatever... I organized my drawers.

You all know I've had this general goal to reduce my clothing inventory, and learn to live inside the space I have in my house. And it's coming along!

Here's what I've done:
1) Rewarded myself with all new hangers. 28 of them, in three colors, velvety ones. This amount of hangers fits perfectly in my two-foot closet. They are different from all my other hangers so nothing unorganized will sneak onto them... other hangers are still in closets that I'm trying to transition out of. They're also in different colors which helps with finding things in there. The gray ones are reserved for slacks.

2) Dedicated my drawers for one purpose, and once clothes filled up that drawer I refused to put them anywhere else. The drawers are each dedicated to:
1. Sweaters & work clothes I can't hang up (cardigans)
2. Casual shirts, that I can't wear to work but can wear for shopping, parties, etc
3. Sleeping/workout shirts
4. Casual bottoms - jeans, pajama pants, knit skirts

My closet is all work clothes, tops and slacks.

Once that was all decided I had an easier time sorting things out for the charity pile, because I could easily see things like "whoh I have a lot of workout clothes" or "okay think here, what are my favorite casual shirts? okay then *these* are not my favorites..." and so on.

Slowly! I'm almost there to my goal of storing only the clothes I want to wear all the time, and having them all fit in my drawers and tiny old house closet.
