nursing and having one free hand

nursing: you hold the baby with one hand, and with the other hand you can do stuff. like change the channel, read a book, check your phone, right? yeah I said it.

except not with olive anymore, she's too distracted and flails around. I tried wearing a nursing necklace for her to grab, it only helped a little bit. no, what she really needs is for me to use my one free hand to hold her hand, then she relaxes and eats and we're all happy. don't do anything, just sit there and nurse.

I have the same inner dialog in my head every day... "well olive, I don't feel very productive. but okay. since you're growing fast, and I know that soon I will miss your little round face, I'll go with it. yes olive. of course I will hold your tiny hand."

D was the same way through our whole BF journey (well, from 6 months I think). sigh. Usually I enjoyed it but there were many a day I got frustrated - when she wanted to nurse every 2 hours at 15 months!! uggh..now of course, i wonder why I was frustrated and yearn to hold her again! haha!
