friends list poll: 2012 edition

I was going to do this once a year, then missed 2011 and, apparently, nearly half of 2012. my how the time flies! So tell me who you are and I'll use this to update my friends list groups and all that, sometimes I even try to hit a bit more on the topics people are actually caring more about.

We have more than 3 interests in common, so I just picked the first three I saw.

Major life events: Got my PE license, currently buying hubby a car to replace the 15 year old beater that has been around longer than I've known the hubby. I'm suddenly sad to be seeing it go. : (

On the topic of meeting in person...are you planning on going to the SWE conference this year?

Hm, I think we intersect on almost all of those interests, so I picked the ones I want to hear "most" about, except I really want to hear about all of them. I like your book reviews because they introduce me to books I might not otherwise read, and I like when you talk about airplanes and engineering because I kind of wish I were doing that. So really they're the interests that you have that I *don't* actively do. ;)

BTW I saw some boring headbands and totally think yours are better. Except I don't wear headbands. lol

Nothing new around here. Always hoping that will change (work-wise) but it never seems to do so...

I'm over 45 but I don't particularly feel old per-se.

Nothing new on my end until tomorrow when I potentially make a big decision on what I'll be teaching next year. Slightly nervous.

I've been reading you for awhile but can't remember if I friended you (and was friended back) before or after Gwen was born. Anyway, the advent of a baby girl last Nov. is the biggest happening in my life, plus a move from the north of the Netherlands to the south.

The internet is indeed a small place!

But it is a bit weird to list "became Princess, will be crowned Queen in June" amongst your "achievements in the last year"! :)

Still totally makes me grin from ear to ear whenever I think of it. And even more so now that I've gotten my hands on some sources and we're planning our coronation. It's going to be the most awesome coronation ever (though from what I've heard the coronation of Kenric and Avelina in the East was pretty cool).

Don't worry, it will be fully documented, and I'll make the info available! (I can't image planning something like this and not documenting the heck out of it). There's also a good chance that we'll have the ceremony video-taped, since Northshield's Heralds & Scribes is the same weekend and thus many Northshield friends who would've come for the event can't (booo!).

Sorry, spacefem, hope you don't mind we've sort of hijacked this thread away from your blog...

I, urm, got a little better and get to play with chromosomes now during my internship! Oh, and my Grandad died. Still upset about that.

Reading your LJ these past few years(not actually sure how long!) has really made me vocal about feminism. I mean, I always considered myself a feminist, but reading your thoughts and views has really made me 'step up' and take up the gauntlet. I was just thinking about that the other day, and wanted to give kudos to you. Thanks!

I've moved back from the Netherlands to the UK (but a part of the UK I hadn't visited before, the northeast) -- such is the life of a postdoc, short-term contract to short-term contract. My husband is currently still in the south of England with IBM (sigh, two body problem), but he and I might actually resume living together at some point in the next half a year, which would be lovely :)

Picked more than three, sorry. Total brain fart there. Top three would be: Sewing, small children, books.

Thanks for friending me.

I'm not only old, I'm off-the-charts old. Live with my granddaughter who will be 22 tomorrow. Currently living in a condo while my house is being cleaned and repaired after a dishwasher fire.

Your list of interests and my actual interests don't overlap much - only at books - but that won't be a problem for me, as mrs_dragon can testify. We'll see if it's a problem for you. FanSee

Asma, 25, female, outside USA, Books + dogs + sewing and no we haven't met but girl let me tell you that you are something amazing. Just finished reading your profile. WOW! You have so much knowledge and experience that I'm looking forward to learn from you.

PS. Had no idea that you were responsible for the Tall community. I'm in that place, not cause I'm tall, but cause I'm short and love tall people! Hehe! No fun being a shortie!
