I'm pretty happy with the taco bell fresco menu, not because it's all that much better for me, but because I can finally get a taco with diced tomatoes on it without upgrading to the supreme. don't get me wrong the supreme is nice, but after about half of it i'm sick of the ice creme scoop of sour creme they slap on that one.
okay, for health crazies, here's how "super healthy" the fresco taco is:
Fresco taco - 150 calories, 8g fat, 370 mg sodium, 20mg cholesterol
Taco - 170 calories, 10g fat, 350 mg sodium, 25 mg cholesterol
Taco supreme - 210 calories, 13g fat, 370 mg sodium, 40mg cholesterol
a plain old taco is not really that bad for you. so I guess my taco bell conclusion is that if you like cheese, don't feel bad about it. if you like tomatoes, the option is there.
tb is still way better than a lot of fast food places in terms of sodium but I've still found that you have to watch it. hell, just on their healthy fresco menu, they manage to pack 1600mg of the stuff into the zesty chicken border bowl. must be the zest. and today I learned that a tostada, which I thought was a wonderful healthy favorite, is 730mg. f that.
i've been better in general about not eating so many lunches out. i brought nearly every day last week, that was good. we've had leftovers around since we've been cooking more. that's really the only way I can bring lunch. i can't deal with making a sandwich in the morning, hate to say it.

I loooove Macaroni Grill - but the numbers on their food are just about the scariest I've ever seen. It's now a super duper extra special treat.
When I cook I intentionally make more than we'll eat so we'll have leftovers. If it's something that takes a lot of work - like my veggie lasagna which is easy but takes a lot of chopping and other prep - I'll make a WHOLE lot more than we'll eat and freeze it. It really does help - I can't be arsed to make a sandwich either. I don't know what the aversion is, but I think most people have it.
