no one actually has to remember birthdays anymore... livejournal, facebook, myspace, and outlook do it for them. remember the days when only the most organized of people realized what day it was? we're in a world of caring that's purely database-driven, people.
Calendars are an analog construct in a continuously more and more digital world. But people forget that analog is the way things occur in -nature.-
(Also, we may not be personal friends or anything, but I'm certainly no jackass, either. Happy birthday and slightly belated congrats on your master's.)
I should also note that as I'm not connected to you via Facebook and the Livejournal birthday listing is a bit obtuse to find, I didn't know it was your birthday!
hahaha We (hubby & I) still have a landline and no mobile phones! ;) we get lectured often to get with the times! But we don't see the need at the moment, so why bother! I had one before as I needed it for work...but now that's gone and my phone is collecting dust in some box in the storage room! ;)
hahaha... I used to remember birthdays. I still do... but yes, now with the habit of depending on Outlook or whatever online/offline calendars I don't remember of the new people I meet. sigh... and phone numbers I was so good at remembering them...cell phones killed that trait.
a world of caring that's purely database-driven you have a way with words... besides lj, do you do any other kind of writing? i get the impression you'd be really good at it... and also that you probably never gave it much thought being in the world of math, science and engineering (i was a math and then a physics major before switching to russian and eventually creative writing, i know how it can but doesn't have to be). i just wanted to throw that out there :)
I intended to remember your birthday and I think I even reminded Holly of it, but I was more busy baking a cake for a friend locally who happened to have a birthday on the exact same day. Considering he just moved from Wichita about two months ago I think he may also have brought your birthday with him.
Happy belated birthday.
Incidentally, I still never know what day it is. I rely almost entirely on my watch to tell me and this is with me using my Palm on a daily basis. I really shouldn't be forgetting this many things.

I don't forget anymore.
And while my memory may be driven by a database, I'll never be embarassed again.
Happy Birthday! :)

happy birthday!!!!!!!!!!
I'm visiting my parents at the moment, and they have a *landline* like a telephone on a cord attached to a wall! Astounding! :)
Happy Birthday Spacefem!
And a very happy birthday to you!! :)
It was only a few years ago that I forgot *my* birthday.
But Happy Birthday, a little late. :)
happy belated birthday!
I did some creative writing in high school, but it's pretty much just livejournal now. or compliance reports for the FAA... those are exciting!
Happy belated birthday.
